Full drainage system installation — trenching, perforated pipe, stone bedding, and loam spreading — to fix standing water and restore proper flow across this Spencer, MA yard.
Project Overview
This Spencer, MA yard had a recurring drainage problem the homeowner had been dealing with for years. After any significant rainfall, water would sit and pool across the yard, saturating the lawn and making it impossible to use for days at a time.
The root of the problem was the perimeter drain system from around the house — it had no proper exit. The PVC pipe coming off the house's perimeter drain had nowhere to go, so water was backing up and surfacing across the yard. The fix was to give it a real outlet.
We connected the existing perimeter drain PVC to a thicker collector pipe, then trenched that line out to a pond on the property. The new pipe carries the water away from the house and yard and discharges it into the pond — a proper, permanent outlet with enough capacity to handle heavy rain events.
After the pipe connection and trench run were complete, we spread fresh loam over the entire disturbed area and graded it back smooth. The yard now drains the way it should — no more standing water after rain.
