Utility Trenching Brimfield, MA

Water Service, Electrical Conduit & Hydrant — Brimfield, MA

200 feet of trenching to extend water and future electrical service from the house to a future barn — including a new yard hydrant and repurposed boulders for the customer's goats.

Project Overview

Extending Utilities 200 Feet to a Future Barn

This Brimfield property needed water and future electrical service run from the house out to where a new barn will eventually be built. We excavated and backfilled approximately 200 feet of trenching to get both utilities in the ground in a single run.

The installation included a new 3/4-inch private water service line, a 1½-inch electrical conduit for future power, and a new yard hydrant to provide convenient water access within the barn area. A sand bed was installed beneath the utilities, with additional sand placed over both lines before backfilling — giving everything extra protection against shifting and frost.

During excavation, we uncovered several large boulders. Rather than haul them off, we repurposed them on-site — arranging them to create natural benches and elevated standing areas for the customer's goats.

The customer chose to hold off on final loam and site cleanup until the barn construction and surrounding site work are further along. A huge thanks to Josh Terkanian with Terkanian Plumbing & Heating for handling the water line connection.
